Hello! My name is Heather Nelson. I am currently PE and Health Education teacher at Grant Elementary and Grant Primary Schools. I am married to a wonderful man and we have four children (13, 3, 2, 2). Our oldest plays several sports including traveling baseball, football, and wrestling. A lot of our time is spent going to practices and games with him. I used to play soccer and basketball in college, while also playing volleyball and track in high school. I love watching and playing sports, love movies, enjoy spending time with family and friends, and just try to enjoy life.
This is my second year at Grant Elementary. I taught the previous four years in Chicago Public Schools on the Westside. Prior to moving up to the suburbs, I lived around the Springfield area and taught preschool for 3.5 years. I went to Trinity International University and completed my education degree through there.
I am also the 4th/5th grade Girls' basketball coach for Grant Elementary. I am proud to say that we are the District 88 defending champions! GO PANTHERS!
